Bilwal, There is no doubt in the patriotism of Indian Muslims. But the problem is their confusion whether to follow principles of Islam (universal brotherhood) or be patriotic to a country. Those who choose the former becomes fundamentalist and do things dictated by maulvis. No education can change them. Many leaders in al-qaeda were educated in top schools like London School of Economics. The perpetrator of London terror Kafeel Ahmed was a doctor. The fundamentalist prefer to be in a ghetto. On the other hand the moderate Islamists are neglected and they have no choice but to align with the fundamentalist. Absence of their voice during Kashmir problem, Islamic terrorism activities on majority, attack on Taslima emboldens the mullahs and sends a wrong message to other communities. In short, Indian Muslims particularly moderates has to introspect and act accordingly. As a first step they should participate in appointing mullahs for populous mosques and carefully interpret the sermons. The same holds for the appointment of members in AIMPLB. If not the reputation of both Indian Muslims and Islam will be questioned and there is no solution for it.
