Central Govt. ( Mainly Congress) Started with IPCL Baroda and than went ahead with
1) IPCL Nagothane (In Mahrashtra) 2) IPCL Gandhar (In Gujrat) 3) GAIL Auraia ( In UP)
Please note IPCL Baroda is small plant worth closing (Its plant and equipment is outdated)
Than Came Reliance Hazira ( In Surat Ahmedabad)
This Single plant in PRIVATE SECTOR is bigger in Capacity as compared to all the 4 plants put toghether. !!!
Its operational efficiency is better than Best in the world.
Central Govt made a mess of all IPCL Plants as they could not be operated at world class efficiency. They were making profits but stood no where when it came to caomparison with Reliance Hazira.
Finally Govt. sold them to RELIANCE and pulled out.
Now comes the reason why Govt of India had to sell them >>>
1) These plants were made on land which was purchased from vested interests ( Read Congress Goons / Land Mafia) at whooping prices.
This jacked up Capital cost of these plants.
Nagothane & Gandhar plants were to operate on Gas as feed stock, but Gas worth Billions of $ was burnt and flared ( a global disaster) at Bombay High. Another Congress Blunder.
2) To jack up employment Congress let Unions dictate terms. At one stage Number of guys tending the Gardens in IPCL and running the Canteen were more than those running the plant. These guys virtually held the plant operation at Ransom.

We can look at Gujrat, It has 1) 7 airports ( No other state in India has that much) 2) Road connectivity is best. 3) With 5% of Indian population, Gujrat contributes 37% of Indian Exports. 4) Gujrat handles more than 50% of India Crude oil Refining.( with just 3 refineries , as compared to balance 16 in India) Imagine the size of Gujrat refineries ( In private sector) 5) Gujrat Handles more than 60% of petrochemical production of India.
If centre returns all the tax which it collects from Gujrat , back to Gujrat than Gujrat progress beats China any day.

This is the reason that CONGRESS Could not buy Gujratis by offerring free doles such as Relaxing Helmet usage, of clearing Electricity theft cases.
Gujratis rejected all such offers . They are not ammused by FREE MANGAL SUTRA OR FREE COLOR T.V as is done in other states.

All this was brought to stop with one stroke of pen ( By Mr Arun Shorie Minister of Disinvestment) This is Foresight of BJP, which CONGRESS LACKS.
Congress wants to capitalise every aspect of Indian life in favour of its Goons with disregard to Indian Public.
By Involving Private sector MODI carried on what BJP did at Centre, given the short period.
Even in that short period it was not full throated BJP , it was NDA, which was Dragged by MEDHA PATKAR / MAMTA BENERZEE / JAYLALITHA SONIA GANDHI AND her team.
