STILL TESTING ?
by BhejaFry on Dec 19, 2007 05:57 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Its been 15 years , we are still testing Prithvi , akash ,agni etc.
when will the testing be complete ?

once testing is complete,it will have to be manufactured in large scale.there's still a long way to go.

the prolonged testing phase proves that certain objectives are not being met.

probably they realise that the missiles are obsolete every time they decide to induct it,so they have to redesign it and retest it.

I know you are dumb but that dumb? Patriot missiles are no where in the class as Akash

go and take a look at their specs first.

Testing is never complete till the system is obsolete....

Otherwise Prithvi and Agni are already inducted in large numbers

There is a concept of incremental refinement

For example Santro comes with minor imporvements every year; do you think they dont test the cars before they launch???

incremental refinement is possible in cars, but missiles are very costly, so they cant manufacture them in large scale unless they are sure their technology would last at least for a decade.
besides car manufacturers have profit in mind, so even if they know that their car is not perfect ,they would still bring it into market just for the sake of earning money. cant do that with missiles, bcos its not a profit making business.

How do you know? Do you have any engineering experice?

You are producing meaning less bull shit

ALL WEAPON SYSTEMS ARE IMPROVED THROUGH THEIR LIVES

Hitting an object dropped mid air is no way of testing it.
it should be tested on prithvi and aircraft flying at 3 mach plus speed.
for that we will need to sacrifice a few old planes like MIG's , of course the pilot can bail out before its hit!
that will prove how effective it is.

Such rigorous testing is neccessary if in future its supposed to protect us against F-16's , eurofighter , raptor , F-118 etc

Which of the aircrafts you listed flies at sppeds of mach 3 moron?

How do you think other countries test their missiles? Using your method?

At least have the good sense to know abc before trying to comment on Gita

I think MIG 27 , MIG 31 can hit more that 2 mach.we have lots of them .

and MIRAGE 2000 too.

Do u think americans , russians, french test their surface to air missiles by hitting objects dropped mid air , silly ?
they are willing to spend more and sacrifice their planes, or they hit an incoming missile.only then testing makes sense.

because in testing u need to recreate a war like scenario ( as realistic as possible) and check to see if ur missile works in such cases

at least they should try to shoot down a few light combat aircrafts! ( which they easily can, given how obsolete the LCA are).

Or if thats too much then at least test it on Advanced light helicopter.

test it on anything that can move at high speed and not a freefalling object dropped mid air.

otherwise in actual war the missile will be capable of hitting only objects dropped mid air by enemy aircraft.

I dont think; I know!! Please read up before speaking.

You have zero clue as to how weapon systems are designed and are way out of your depth

:-) Mig 31??? No Mig 31 are flown anywhere in the world; its a test aircraft.

Check what is the speed of Mig 27 and when
