I am from outside TN, but i fail to undersatnd how gounders and thevars can be OBCs. I mean from what i know they were kings abd chieftains in olden days. Correct me if i am wrong.

Sir I am from Tamilnadu. We are tamilians. In my opinion there differeces in caste community and all. But we can find the differences i polytical parties only. Other caste differences community differeces are ignored. We dont find untouchablity in tamilnadu.
The bc obc mbc and there because of our governmental system. I mean India as whole. In face it is merely political and the politicians created this. Please forget this matter and think Gounders and thevars and other communities are same in tamilnadu. I dont know whether i answered to the point. Just i took the opportunity to feel happy about tamil nadu.

True.
Gounders, Thevars, Mudaliars etc. are rich even today but are considered "backward", bcoz they are all casteist. But Go to a social function and call them "backward", they will not accept, they will argue that they belong to high lineage and theirs is a superior high caste. The Brahmins are selfish and do not think about their caste otherwise they would have negotiated for BC/MBC status just like Thevars, gounders, Mudaliyars etc.
In India there are rich and poor among all castes and religion. Real progress will happen only if the Government and people realise this.
But the Government will not realise this since they want votes and People know this but are selfish and want to prmote their individual castes.
In the meantime the selfless castes like Brahmins, Pillai, Reddys suffer since they are categorised as OC and the poor among them always stay as poor!

There is no Aryan or Dravidian. This was introduced into the history of India by foreignors to keep the Indian society divided. Even distinctions between castes are disappearing very fast. In India there are only two categories i.e. the haves (rich) and havenots (the poor). Reservations should be to the havenots irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. Religious education should be introduced in the schools where basic prayers should be taught to all and common religous practices should be evolved for all the communities within Hindu society to eradicate any kind of distinction. Political leaders who are not corrupt and who do not offer bribes in cash or kind (free TVs, free bicyles, etc for votes) but who work for the development of the state and country should be elected. Corrupt leaders will continuee to divide the society on caste and religious lines to garner votes and stay in power. Beware.

Whatever may be Jayalalitha's short comings, I do not agree that casteism is one of them. You cannot also blame her for 'dynatyism' ! She does not have dumb followers like Anbazhagan & others who after serving the party for decades simply accepted Stalin as their leader without much ceremony.
