True.

Gounders, Thevars, Mudaliars etc. are rich even today but are considered "backward", bcoz they are all casteist. But Go to a social function and call them "backward", they will not accept, they will argue that they belong to high lineage and theirs is a superior high caste.
The Brahmins are selfish and do not think about their caste otherwise they would have negotiated for BC/MBC status just like Thevars, gounders, Mudaliyars etc.

In India there are rich and poor among all castes and religion. Real progress will happen only if the Government and people realise this.

But the Government will not realise this since they want votes and People know this but are selfish and want to prmote their individual castes.

In the meantime the selfless castes like Brahmins, Pillai, Reddys suffer since they are categorised as OC and the poor among them always stay as poor!
