Aaja Nachle
by Pat Thakur on Dec 02, 2007 09:14 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

With due respect to all religion, caste etc., I have begun to smell a rat here. Yesterday, I too had written off a message that contained words of depth.
But seeing this spree of banning, I have begun to feel otherwise. I personally feel it is a matter of give - n - take. The Director & Politicos sign an agreement -

1) The director releases the film.

2) The politicos ban the film & create a furore 'coz it contains derogatory remarks (!) against a particular caste; it gives them political mileage; this is excellent as concerns the fast approaching elections.

3) The director shows sense & says he will delete the remarks. The politicos then withdraw their ban. All are happy.

Both the Politicos & Director have gained what they want - Publicity. In this melee, the ones who have been used very carefully are the members of that Particular Minority. Poor souls!

"There's no such thing as bad publicity!" It is a marketting axiom. But honestly I dont belive that the director inetnded it to create controversy. We are becoming a very intolerant society.

Ha, ha, ha. I have just mentioned the possibility of something & people have started branding me as "Dirty n Negative Minded." That means the latter half of my post is 100% true -

"Think rationally my friend, not with blind emotion. That's what we Indians are famous for, thinking with our hearts more than with our minds & in the end get screwed up."

It's not 'bout me, that's the trend nowadays. Say whatever you might or cry foul, it has come to stay. Marketing is the byword of this Modern Age. Gone are those days when Quality was tops or people advocated quality. Nowadays, goods deemed unfit for even the "Pounding Chair" get sold off as "Gems".
And in this case, many things are at stake including the Comeback Of Madhuri. The director will do anything in such a case to make it a resounding success. Think rationally my friend, not with blind emotion. That's what we Indians are famous for, thinking with our hearts more than with our minds & in the end get screwed up.
