Why is it that we have suddenly developed a crunch for nuclear raw material? When was this first understood and why were the nuclear power generation estimates not revised. Clearly if there was a shortfall, then power generation estimates from nuclear power were optimistic rather than realistic. Why wasnt this conveyed to the indian public / media? Something just doesnt make sense. First we say that we are completely self-sufficient in the nuclear sector, then we claim that we need technology in this sector especially for reprocessing? Finally we claim that we are running out of uranium but have never developed new mines in india itself? To me all these ex-AEC types are beating around the bush. They also havent answered conclusively whether the indian deterence is actually working like it claims. Within the AEC itself there is doubt about the fusion device. Maybe Mr Shrinivasan should address these questions first.

How is it that you want to jump into an agreement that constrains the nation without getting a complete picture about whats happening in the very field that agreement supposedly strenghtens. So far we were fed the line that all is well with the nuclear sector. Now suddenly there is a lack of technology, severe lack of raw materials as well as other constraints. Well how come this was not addressed before? How is it that the planning commission did not know about this and sector targets were non-realistic? If you look at the revised targets based on the successful completion of this treaty, it will barely measure 3-5% of the power capacity required. Do you find it strange that any ex-AEC chairman has not mentioned this before but is so willing to comment on political affairs? This is the Kangress-Unkil working hand-in hand to force any opposition to bend to its will. FYI i am neither socialist, communist nor am i from the 2 states mentioned. I will also give you this, I am neither muslim, nor bhaiyya or pak-jabi from the former undivided Punjab.
