Do you really care??

Please consider this.

1. All alternative sources mentioned here are too costly and highly unreliable. Each solar cell produced requires more energy in its making than it promises to deliver in its whole life time. Not to mention that constant sunshine is not guaranteed. Similar are the cases of wind and wave techniques.

2. Indian public is not educated enough to take informed decisions on such matters. After all government (at least theoretically) represents same constituency, and is there to take decisions with help of qualified people on its behalf!

3. At least one of the authors is known for totally irresponsible behavior opposing very large projects okay-ed by so many experts and also endorsed by courts. It would be very kind if somebody comes up with figures (in hundred crores) of losses which she has made the Indian ex-chequer to suffer.

Nishant,
I disagree with point 1 of yours, for simple reason that Solar cells manufacturing costs are high because they are not mass produced, its same logic as computers which were very expensive and didnt have much power in the 80's.
Nuclear fuel is much more costly and dangerous, why dont you just google on net instead of asking others to provide you with figures.
If you can respond on rediff you can certainly run a google search for such information.
Govt. cannot be trusted because it comprises of people who have extremely dubious track records as well as political class in India has been famous for its corruption.
