Will Manmohan explain this?

If this deal is so beneficial, why dont India go for NPT? anyway when we are in the deal with USA, practically we are not going to do N-tests. Moreover, NPT has international recognition, signing NPT will ensure permenant seat for India in UNSC. Signing NPT will include India in to reputed N-club nations. And all the other advantages of having privilages of civilian (peaceful) nuclear power production are also coupled with NPT. If India can be manipulated by USA for this Nuclear deal, why cant India drop the Anti-NPT stature? Atleast NPT has more credibility than this US sponsored deal.

Simple Nautanki, to show as if they have done a landmark deal, its all chest beating. They could have long way back signed the NPT, after all Indira had blown the bombs long time ago.

If for the time being we (India) are not concerned with N-tests, NPT would be much more beneficial than this deal. IAEA already recognises India as a Nuclear State and they too are desperate to bring India into NPT. By signing this deal we are indirectly complying NPT, then why dont we sign the real NPT which has international recognition?

It is nothing but stupidity, they could have signed NPT long time back, they would have got international recognition. They would have full choice of entering into talks with IAEA, NSG and chosen the technology and fuel supply partner of
their own choice.

Not signing NPT and equating the signing of NPT to the compromise to our sovereignity was by NDA govt. While UPA govt too maintained a stance against NPT but took a similar step to ridicule the same stance.
