India should utilize the deal if feasible as a temporary option whilst we devolop our uranium and Pu enrichment process. We have a huge stock of monazite sands but lack the process to convert this into weapon grade Pu. Use US to gain all these and temp energy security. Once we r at that point, chuck US and the 123 deal into the bin of history. Use em..use the americans hard and chuck em when the time comes. We don't need a US or a small blip like australia conducting our nuclear policy. Hope mr singh has not messed up all this with his meekness. A london school of economics degree doesn't essentially make u smart in strategy. Hope our PM stands well advised by knowledgeable ones..

Your idea seems interesting and tempting in the first place. But if we think deeper(the American Way), we can see that in return of this CONDITIONAL N-deal, American is intending to SUCK our wealth.
Once this deal is passed, American co.'s will line up to SELL nuclear tech and spare parts - Cost - Billions of $s
Again, in the name of COOPERATION and Financial Open Markets, they will gain approval from this Congress Govt to enter our markets in Retail, Finance, Banking, Law, Research, and every thing.
But out of this, RETAIL MARKET is what they are eyeing. Reason, America gets 99% of its goods consumed produced in China. Our Country does not have any stringent policy in terms of quality of goods imported. Hence, US will dump all that goods that is rejected in US market into India and sell them at high prices under is MNC brands.
Who will lose? India. This will create mass unemployment in our manufacturing market. If not a labour price war is certain.
Again, we are buying this N-Technology to fuel our industrial growth. But once these MNCs enter our country, there would be very few industries left to utilise this electricity.
Again, when India does a N-Test, America will withdraw its support, and technology. Leaving vast energy gap (hopefully a short term - taking into consideration that India would have developed its own n-tech). But in this time, there would be accute shortage of goods and will increase inflation over night

precisely...zats why i fervently hope that our PM stands well advised by not white hat bearing bowed congressman...but by men of strategic vision.!!!!...also realize this fact that if US MNC's set massive subsidaries a lot of FDI flows in with it.SO one fine day we test and US ceases supply, US MNC's stand to lose as well...and in Billions. Being a huge market has its advantages!!. And the day US ceases supplies US MNC's can kiss their huge assets, fdi's and infrastructure here goodbye. Also realize the fact that russia has and was ready to supplu Uranium, it was the NPT which caused it to stop supplies. With the 123 deal if US starts russia is cleared to supply us as well!!and that may not stop even if US ceases cause they opened the door and there is no closing it. We r no longer aid seekers, we have a massive market and money as well!!...so USE and THROW
