Come on Dr.Kakodkar.I had great regard for and expectations from you. But,alas, you have not lived up to them. After catapulting to the US's charms, now it is understandably your lot to defend the flawed and pokered deal. You could have told the PM and his henchmen in no uncertain terms that you would not sit on the negotiating table where the epitaph of the Indian nuke research program would be drafted. Instead you not only acquiesced, but have also pitched yourselves into the arena to defend it. Can you honestly answer the following?1.Can India continue to do advanced nuke research such as Fast Breeder reactor development and thorium cycle reasearch without hindrance after the Deal comes into full force?2.Can you build exclusive plant for the spent US fuel reprocessing and still keep your technology secret?3.Can you prevent the US and its allies from infiltrating your research labs and spiriting away your best brains?4.Having succeeded in FB technology, could you and your colleagues not have reworked the 3-phase nuke development plan?5.Did you not have sufficient faith in your organisation's ability to offer to build 3 or 4 FB reactors simultaneously to cut short phase-II and jump-start thorium cycle instead of make the country labour through the natural uranium processes?6.Could you not have summoned up the conscience of the entire nuke-tech community to commit to the nation the most advanced nuke power technology if left free without the 123-Deal? Can I hope for your answers?

Please throw some more light on your questions. As far as I understand it there is nothing in the deal that restricts what you asked. The deal can be terminated with 1 year notice from either party. And anyway, all that you said has no meaning if we don't test our nuclear weapons. And if we do conduct any test there will be sanctions anyway. So I didn't understand your problem. The only problem that I see is once we start depending upon foreign supplies for our daily energy needs then it would be difficult to annoy the US. Looking forward for your reply.
