Indian military
by Sam on Apr 22, 2007 07:46 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I regret that India's military/govt setup is the most wierd I have ever seen, which makes the military useless. The military takes orders from the government. Its like a Lion taking order from a Donkey. Free our Lions. Let the Indian Military become independent like the USA. Free the military!!!!

You must be out of your mind. There is no military in the world that is not under govt. control. Military is govt and govt is military. I think you have to brush up your basics before making such stupid comments

Sanjay Rao: In USA Military is independent of government when it comes to taking decisions. In India, the govt. controls the military completely. In Indian, as per the law, the 3 leaders (army, navy, airfirce) cannot meet in a room. They can only communicate via the government. This is rediculous.

When military is freed from civil control, it no more remains a military, it becomes a militia or a grotesque form like we see in Pakistan an intrument of foreign control. After all military has got to feed, to pay for its families, and retirees. Where will the money come from? India is a civil secular nation with Constitutional democracy, thank your stars for our politicians who enabled this for you with responsible though overstretched governance. The politicians even give you the right to abuse them! Try this in a nation where politicians do the dadagiri like Pakistan or China!
