what pests....ULFA

Useless and Lowly Faggots of Assam....thts wht is ULFA. If govt was really interested in wiping them out of this country it would have taken more serious measures. At every step of the reservation process and women's right the govt. is keen to change the laws of the constitution. It makes me wonder why then these fat asses of the so-called parliamentarians pass a law to use the Indian Air Force in actions against these terriorists? Why cant it do so in J&K as well? what have we parked our planes in the hangers for? to polish them and put them back in again? Why cant we use our air force against insurgents when we can use our army? it really beats my imagination to come to a sound reasoning. Maoists are killing innocent citizens by the hundreds, they are killing even the police and paramilitary forces in dare-devil attacks so what is preventing the govt. to enact/mend the law where we use our air force against such elements? it should be remembered that these outfits invariably take refuge in dense forests.it will be prudent to recall the vietnam war where the fight was in dense jungles too and the USAF had played a major role in annihilating the vietnamese positions. it was a major backup for the army on the ground. Had they not used the USAF the US casualties would have been much higher. Its time we should change tack and start thinking in terms of wiping these pests called ULFA from the country.

dude, what you suggest is the strategy used in full scale war where you know the enemy, you know where it is hiding. But J&K is different cenario. It is a proxy war, where the enemy is hidden, anyone can be hidden. At the same time, army have to be careful of the civilian casualties. In this senario, using airforce is useless. anyway, army have their choppers to use as and when needed.

Dear friend,

No country would like to bomb its own territory. It would be the worst moment in the life of an airforce pilot if he is instructed to drop bombs on his very own country. But the same man would bomb to ashes any city in an enemy territory with little hesitation. Our army is good enough for these buggers.

prd: You are right. However, I think it is about time the Indian military started running joint operations with air force assistance. They can do reconissance or satellite coverate, if we don't have this ability, then start working towards it.
Tactical sorties with laser guides small munitions launched from LCAs might also be a good way to go about this. There are so many times when Army and BSF soldiers come under fire from enemy combatants nestled in tactically superior positions. Why not call in air strikes for something like this? Why do we choose to sacrifice the lives of Jawans instead? As it is the soldiers are fighting with one hand tied behind their back; this in turn is causing a lot of stress in the armed forces. Just put an end to this. If our soldiers are attacked, pull out the laser markers and call in the air strikes. This is a tactic the Israelis have employed as well; and that is one of the reason why they are so competent with this technology to begin with.
