I can perfectly understand why Dalits rioted after their icon's statue was desecrated. But, how can any individuals take the law into their own hands, however mighty the cause may be? Reading your article, it seems that you're justifying the behaviour of a few goondas and rogues. In India, it's a habit to glorify poverty and backwardness. Everybody seems to work for the "poor" but nobody's lot improves except their own. It's a national problem but the SCs & STs in this country seem to perennially blame the middle-class for their problems. Our ancestors committed some sins against your ancestors, but that doesn't mean we should be penalized for it. We're not your enemies, we want to see everybody do well in this country so that OUR country develops. Let's not fall prey to the designs of the selfish politicians by fighting amongst ourselves.
There is only one Caste; The Caste of Humanity. There is only one Religion; The Religion of Love.

Why not Dalits get angry? If persons like Nath who has pessimistic notions about the "merit" of Dalits, there is every reasons for them to get angry; not only when some thing as heinous as Kanpur and Khailaranji incidents happen. The minority Hindus (Brahman/Baniya) play their tricks and OBCs in their effort to move upward tend to fall prays for the Brahminical tactics eventually leading them to commit atrocities agaianst the asserting Dalits. Reservation is one way of addressing the 'caste question' and one can't deny the fact that only Reservation POlicy of Indian Govt become at least successful, though the Brahmincal bureaucracy and Judiciary attempt to downplay it at any cost. Unless and until DAlitisation of Indian society be materialised, violence will remain an emancipatory project for the oppressed.
