the muslim personal law board is nothing buta male ch auvenistic board comrising of true fanatics and reactionery elements.just to show that it is very progressive but in fact to curtail the rights of the muslim women comes once in news.the board takes more of a political decisions than social one and this may in accordance with thier masters elsewhere so that the women can only be used as a vote bank for any political parties, who will do good for the average muslim but for a price.in democracy all are equal and no one is more than equal but the board thinks no one including the law of the land could touch it.and our politicians who call themselves as great secular people in the world also want the bad writ of the board to continue so that thier vote banks are intact.the media and the secular elements of this country are only concerned about the ills in the hindu society and not in the muslim and christian societies.the board has grown as a demon and only thier own people can dismantle it.there should be equal law in the country for all irrespective of thier relegion like the marriage act,the will, divorce act.polygamy.only then will there be harmony in the society

Ruby, THERE SHOULD BE A COMMON LAW IN THE COUNTRY. Religion should be separate from State affairs !!! Why should VHP/Muslim parties form the law in our country ? India is a secular country. It is not a hindu or muslim country !!!!!!
P.S. Only muslims can make this happen. Your post is extremely disappointing. You have put religion before the country. Pls think about this more. Don't stop questioning.
-Your post on hinduism is good (though hateful). It is good that there is a law against dowry, sati, female infanticide... today. Find the truth !

The muslim personal law board has never tried to be progressive. What do you mean by progress ?
If progress is technology, then the muslim board is with it. If it means humans and human beings then there is no scope of it in Islam. People should understand the values of Islam before making muslims progressive. If progressive means, leaving your religion to follow no-religion or religion of others then, muslims need not be progressive. If progressive means wearing undecent clothes, language and policy of hatred then muslims need not be progressive.
Human beings cannot change, you cannot change the way you breathe, sleep, eat etc, so why should laws that show them the best path should change. Muslim laws are one of the fastest and just laws anywhere. And everyone knows how much time and money one can save if you get your disputes settled outside our constitutional court. We should see the constitutional court as the last respite, and try to settle our matters internally in the family, society and religion before going to the national level ie the constitutional courts.
