The muslim personal law board has never tried to be progressive. What do you mean by progress ?
If progress is technology, then the muslim board is with it. If it means humans and human beings then there is no scope of it in Islam. People should understand the values of Islam before making muslims progressive. If progressive means, leaving your religion to follow no-religion or religion of others then, muslims need not be progressive. If progressive means wearing undecent clothes, language and policy of hatred then muslims need not be progressive.
Human beings cannot change, you cannot change the way you breathe, sleep, eat etc, so why should laws that show them the best path should change. Muslim laws are one of the fastest and just laws anywhere. And everyone knows how much time and money one can save if you get your disputes settled outside our constitutional court. We should see the constitutional court as the last respite, and try to settle our matters internally in the family, society and religion before going to the national level ie the constitutional courts.
