Some controversy
by vivek on Mar 19, 2005 07:29 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

As much as I agree with the arguement put forth by Mr.Modi refering to previous occasions when the US choce to give visa's to head of states where some sort of riots had occured under their regime, one thing I dont understand is why did Mr.Modi apply for a diplomatic visa when his visit had nothing to do with politics or diplomacy. If he already had a 10 year visa since 1998, he could have just used that and entered the US finished his trip and gone back. This controversy would never have raised. I wonder what Mr.Modi's explanation would be!!

He just wanted to show that he is going for some diplomatic job. The same thing he did it for his UK trip. He and Gujarat administration had aanounced that Modi is going to UK for business purposes under invitation from them. The organisers made it clear that they never invited Modi and he is coming on his own for some musical concert.

I dont understand why he do this. He can go any place on his own. Nobody have any objection. Its upto him. But dont say its an official trip. I think most polititians do this. They just go in name of official trip enjoy it and come back at the expense of the state. Modi too.
