First of all Rediff should clarify if you people are being paid by Yashraj Films to hype Madhuri's comeback.
Madhuri and Sridevi were mostly STARS and less of ACTORS. Sridevi at least had some great films down south.
I don't deny Madhuri was the flavour during my college days and I have seen 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun?" more than 10 times because of Madhuri. But to brand her as the best ever is an insult to the intelligence of the followers of Indian Cinema.
Madhuri was a performer and star par excellance. But if you are talking about Actors; we have one hundred, not ten actors whose have achieved greater things in Indian Cinema.
Infact I rate a certain Manju Warrier from Malayalam films who retired at the age of 20 or 21 as one of the all time Great Actors in India. She married Dileep and quit films. But in a short span of 3 - 4 years she gave magnificient performances in movies like Kanmadam, Aaraam Thamburan, Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu, Sallapam, Ee Puzhayum Kadannu etc. She was as big in Malayalam movies as Mammootty, Mohan Lal and Suresh Gopi when she chose matrimony over movies and money.
Madhuri today is slim agreed. But she looks like Helen of 70s put in the microwave and taken out shrunk. The age is written all over her face. Who are you people trying to fool?
Finally I have nothing against comebacks. But is it necessary to splash motivated articles on Rediff just to boost up Madhuri's comeback?
If she is good enough, she will succeed without your highly partisan promos.

Of course, Madhuri and Sridevi are stars and less of actors...But we have less of stars when it comes to the heroines right...? "Being a star" is definitely an achievement...! When a heroine is forgotten when a couple of her movies has flopped / she is married, it definitely needs that "something" to survive for a good 18 years in Bollywood and making a comeback which the whole country awaits eagerly...Agreed that Manju Warrier is a great actress...! But I wouldn't definitely see a movie for Manju 10 times like what you did for HAHK...! In a moviedom which is dominated solely by the men, it requires not only guts but also you have to deliver the goods especially if you don't have a "guru"/(god) father who is famous in cinema...! I agree that Madhuri is nowhere near to Revathi/Suhasini/Shobhana/Nandita Das/Tabu....But i will watch a movie and go gaw gaw over their performances on a lazy afteroon in my TV for these actresses were never crowd pullers...Madhuri is more of a crowd puller than a star...! Thats why everyone in tinseltown from Anil Mehta to Rituparno Ghosh , from raj Kuma Santoshi to Vikram Phadnis want to cash in on her...Being 40 , thats not by any means a mean achievement.

I don't dispute the Status of Madhuri the Star, the Performer and an Icon. I myself have admitted this. But to brand her as Actor. This is what I find hard to digest. Madhuri and Sridevi were undoubtedly Gigantic Stars and are perhaps unmatched till today.
If Rediff had titled the piece as Greatest Stars, I have no problems whatsoever. This is all I meant and I love and respect Madhuri.
But this sudden burst of Madhuri on Rediff looks motivated to me.

For your kind information, Mr. Typical Northy Prerak Shah, Govind Raj is NOT a Mallu. I am from Karnataka, but have the BROAD mind to accept great as GREAT. You have not seen Manju Warrier and I have and I have seen all of Madhuri's GREAT films.
For entertainment, give me Madhuri any day. But when you talk of ACTING, Rediff has to be specific. This is all I have written. Because when it comes to acting; Nargis, Nutan, Waheeda Rehaman, Suhasini, Smitha Patil, Manju Warrier, Jaya Badhuri, Shabana, Jyothika [Yes watch her Tamil movies], Kajol etc are the names that come to my mind before others.
And for your great intelligent observation; Fat Asses do make GREAT Actors! Mohan Lal is by far the Best Actor in India. Pencil thin figures and great dancing skills alone don't make great ACTING. If slim asses and dashboard abs were to be the benchmark for acting ability.....
Yes Mallika Sherawath is the BEST EVER ACTOR on this Planet. So enjoy what you want to. But please be BROAD minded enough to allow us poor people down south to express our views.
Afterall Rediff is not for North Indians alone and India .... is NOT North India alone.

I dont have to say anything abt what anybody said here but one...If u dont rate madhuri as good actress then u need to go and watch some movies of her...i will tell u some names..watch Mrityudand, Devdaas, Pukar, Gajgamini or DTPH.She is one of the great actresses bollywood had but her potential was not realised properly. There r movies which she carried on her own shoulders like yaraana, PremGranth or else they would have survived even for a day.Its unfortunate for her not to get roles like actresses r getting now a days.

WHat r u talking about? Madhuri and Sridevi are probably a few of the greatest actors the Indian screen has seen in this age and era.
