India was a good idea at the time of gandhi and british, we need not be hungup on it, we are independent now and we can reorganize to our will and liking. And have a clear sense of identity to present to rest of the world instead of utter confustion to foreign countries. I totally respect his nonviolent philosophy.
But the way Indians are behaving today selfishly and greedily in the name of US money and resources, belie the legacy of that great leader. We need practical solutions. To that end we need to reorganize the indian union on linguistic lines so that no group feels pressured by the other and english as the national language.
Especially north india must rise up like a phoenix from its ashes of destruction at the hands of islam and british conquest to regain its palce in comity of nationas.

Indian secular UNION should be dissolved in to 5-8 nations states and reformed into a federation having common national military as well as state military.
We give foreigners a very poor and confused impression about india and keep fighting with eachother when we go outside india.
If we reorganize we can have a clear sense of national cultural identities with some common cultural background. The current state police/business/and adminstrative structures of current states can be used to form the new nation states to form common tax base. This will give clear national identities to each group in an administrative mess caled india, where every body thinks the other state is taking advantage of me.
Upper north India:- Punjab, haryana, Kashmir,and I think rajasthan should also be part of it, but it gets counted in nothern india.. i dont know why.
There is north india Hindi speaking regions :- UP, Bihar, MP .. Rajasthan, but rajasthan should be struck out of this arrangement.. as vasundhara raje herself said rajasthan is not part of BIMARU states.
West India :- Maharashtra, Gujrat
East India :- Starting from bengal, assam, and 7 sister states of india.
South India :- Four states of karnatak, tamilnadu, kerela, andhara pradesh.
They should be made independent countries. And then they should have economic cooperation and treaties between them. That will be much better than an indian union as it stands today.

WHEN I SUGGEST DIVISION, IN BACKGROUND I MEAN
1) WE SHOULD HAVE ONE NATIONAL ARMY. 2) We SHOULD HAVE ONE MINERAL SHARING ARRANGEMENT. 3) THIS IS PRIMARILY BEING SUGGESTED ON LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL LINES, BECAUSE ELSE EVERY ONE ELSE IN INDIA FEEL PRESSURED BY THE IMMIGRANT GROUP AS YOU MUST HAVE NOTICED IN NORTH/SOUTH LANGUAGE DIVIDE, AND RECENT VIOLENCE TOWARDS HINDI SPEAKING PEOPLE IN NORTHEAST/SOUTH AND MAHARASHTRA.

Sir I have nothing against rajasthan,we need not be afraid of consolidating and forming these loose political divisions which already exit.
We can just formalize them. I know rajasthan is doing well and is capable, i wish it does even better, but Other north indian states need to better on their own, for that purpose we need
Sorry if my language sounded harsh, i did'nt mean to hurt rajasthani sensibilities.
This division I am suggesting is only for political and economic purposes and river water sharing purpose. And we can be a much better organized to be governed administratively.
Evry citizen of India should carry state ID card and when it moves to a new state for employment his identity is clear. Every political division suggested must manage the muslims under their state laws, and it is the states reponsibility.
