Pathetic Decision
by ketan pattekar on Feb 29, 2008 05:36 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

FM is absolutely wrong in waiving the loans of the farmers as its not the ministers who will bear the losses but its gonna be from common man's pocket. Instead things have tobe done to improve the conditions and the infrastructure available to farmers. If this keeps on happening many people ie i mean mainly the politicians themselves will see how this thing can be beneficial for them. But as it happens normally the common middle class man is always at loss as in the end he is acting as a coolie to decisions like these... India is really in a pathetic stage... no wonder the younger generation is moving abroad...

Mr Ketan, I am a farmer my self and I agree with you completely. Most of the loan waiver will be enjoyed by businessmen and hobby farmers like me and none of the orriginal farmer will benifit out of this scheme. The money which should have been spent for river linking, widening of the roads, free schooling for the poor children, toilets in every corner of the city, electrification for the villeges, is being spent for this absolutely wronge reason keeping in mind of the election to come. The politicians in our country will not think twice to sell part of the state if he or she is going to be elected again so that he can continue with this kind of largely populistic but useless scheme. I would be glad if the loan at least goes to those who commit suicide daily instead of people like me for whom agricalture is a hobby and do not need waiver of any kind. all said and done I am richer by 5 lakhs today for no fault of mine.

Mr Madhu, I am a farmer myself with 2 acres of farmland. We have sucked due to drought for last four years. Drought is not only in terms if water but electricity also. If my crop is better, I do not get price due to traders. This will definitely help farmers. If farmer does not produce, then what are you going top eat ? Software? Steel ? SEZs? Petrolium ?

Mr. Ketan,
Do you know burden of subsidy on LPG/Petrol on Govt which is 90% consumed by you so called common man?
Also do you know the subsidy on housing govt provides in Urban Area where Land is acquired by Govt on govt rates instead of market rates?
People like you have divided India on various lines as you are concerned only for people of your community.
Do`nt you know that africulture is backbone of any economy?

Mr Pradeep,

while ur points are truly noteworthy, do you actually know that the cost of production of petrol for eg is only Rs 18 per litre? This one litre of petrol comes to the common man at Rs 52/- per litre today. The balance amount od Rs 33/- per litre is made up of all sorts of taxes. In effect the tax part is far more than the cost of the product. If the taxes are rationalized, there wont be any need of subsidy as also the cost to the comon man would be less.

if govt can give tax reduction of RS.44,000/- to people who r earning more than 5lakh/annum, govt should support the farmers-the people who r fighting with the land to give us food and having hardly any income. how many farmers will be having a loan of more than Rs.44000/?
