The problem
by thomas on Feb 25, 2008 11:52 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

With South Indians is that they think they are superior becoz most of the top educational institutes are present in South India, like the IT destinations-But can anyone tell me after being so educated , why the Caste system is prevelent in South?Even an IITan would think about getting married to his caste(general case). This proves that degrees cant make you educated-Else Albert Eienstien would have been nothing.

You need to restart your education from LKG onwards. You are creating a "divide" in several ways here. Both caste and regional differences. I do not know whether it is your attitude or something to do with your region.

I agree Thomas. Casteism is prevalent in the south and has so much so that Christians and Muslims too practice it strictly. In fact the anti-brahminism movement has been turned on its head to bring-in other castes to dominate. Interestingly, while I know so many brahmins who have married Christians, my mudaliar and Nair friends will just not consider that option. Marriage is a personal option but what about even behaving normally and welcoming Dalits into homes, even that basic courtesy is missing in many urban so called rationalists. That the south has lesser caste problems than north is no excuse.
