I agree Thomas. Casteism is prevalent in the south and has so much so that Christians and Muslims too practice it strictly. In fact the anti-brahminism movement has been turned on its head to bring-in other castes to dominate. Interestingly, while I know so many brahmins who have married Christians, my mudaliar and Nair friends will just not consider that option. Marriage is a personal option but what about even behaving normally and welcoming Dalits into homes, even that basic courtesy is missing in many urban so called rationalists. That the south has lesser caste problems than north is no excuse.
