Poor Hr and Managers
by Chandramouly Vidyashankkar on Jul 23, 2007 08:11 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Poor Hr (Not Hr policies), but poor practices, and Managers, makes things worst for the programmers, which is causing more headaches to the firms.

I have seen people telling about tough managers, for their leaving. The main reason is the Managers are not touch, but they are not trasparent, and do not pass on info like about the Project status, client communications, short term assignments, releaving from one project.

Most people understand the complexity and they expect more transparancy, rather than favouring them. Again the HR, in case of a average hike, they dont give a proper response, and comes out with, we will review, (means who), and they should again give out the reasons like budget allocations, performance of the employees.

I have seen a case in one of this top 4,(not to name the firm), that a person after putting down his papers, took 3 weeks to communicate with his HR. It seems that the Hr is on leave for one week, and not picking up the call. And there is no alternative person to handle the issue.

There are many loosily packed stuffs in IT firms, which they will have to tighten up going forward

Again there is always reference calls, and many getting into without any knowledge. These stuffs are done by Managers and HR people. Instead of these, they can very well dilute and get other degree people and people from other sectors to accomodate.

My suggestion, is take some one from other sector with more than 5-10 yrs expererince. In other sectors, job switching is less, and they would have got into that mind set, and will not leave easily.
