The USA slowly switching new generation fighter which are not detectable by Radar, since F-16 fighter are built with 1970's technology, It may not suit todays scenario. More over as i understand Lockheed is in verge bankrupt, they are pushing very hard for this fighter for survival. So they are taking help from Tata. One problem with these fighter especially bought from USA will spare parts (maintaince). Until you have good relation with USA, india does not have any problem in maintaining aircraft's, else it will be very difficult maintain, as Pakistan (many other countries) is facing problem with F-16 fighter or other fighter aircrafts.

I agree by the views of Keshava. US is not as reliable as Russia or France. Tata was offered the same so that his influence can be utilized for pushing the sale. Tata's are partner in many Defence projects.

i truely appreciate TATA for taking off in F-16.... but then why does INDIA always go outdated crap..... why f-16's when there are sukoi's and mirrages... are we trying to fill our bakyard .... previously it was MIG crashes.. now it'll be F_16 crashes... ya may be an imporved version of death....

Ratan Tata is not a model nor a beneficiary if IAF buys F16s. He is a man who runs a huge business empire. I think he is just having fun. Appreciate his enthusiasm at this age. Don't try and infer stupid deductions.

Agree. India should look forward to buying newer generation aircrafts. F16 was a good plane but is in the same genre as the Mig29 that IAF already possesses. I don't think US would be selling their F22 Raptor anytime soon :-( The Mig35 seems like a good bet. Lookin forward to checking these planes out on Sat !

True, No One is talking about Tejas...but it is a lightweight fighter, designed for either CAS or frontline support. I dont really think it can really hold its own against the big fighters of today in beyond visual range air combat, it is an agile dogfighter though. The Govt. should go in for Mig 35 Aircraft to complement the Sukhois and Mig 29s. Sad thing is, the Mig 25 has been retired...

This may be partially true... it had laid off a couple of thousand workers & would have to shut down the F-16 assembly plant & cut off another 5000 jobs. The sudden offer to sell F-16s to Pak a few years ago was a step tp prevent this from happening...

It is immaterial to deduce anything about a private organisation.So, I beleive that there is hardly any reason to raise your voice for a foreign company ( hope your father is not an employee of that company!!)I strongly support keshava in this matter.
