B-Schools create MNC bureaucrats ...

Also, the way most b-schools still hire fresh under-grads and have profs with no industry experience (even IIMs) ... makes one question the real capability addition in that model ...

50-60% of all MBAs change their "campus" jobs within the first 18-24 months ... and often change domains ... makes one wonder why this breed is so confused in spite of all the business training ...

Did you just say Well said??? I think the article is confused about what is wants to convey! Just another catchy headline like several others on rediff without the content justifying the caption.

B-schools are "polishing" schools. They are NOT "teaching" schools. It is even mentioned in the article. Then why the umpteen headlines like "B-schools don't teach..."? To warm the hearts of non-MBAs to have them believe they haven't really missed out on much?! Please!

No doubt that there are serious issues in the way students are selected in an MBA course specifically in India but whoever said you dont learn teamwork, networking, leadership and blah blah in a B-school. They sure dont teach it. Thats NOT their job. But who says you dont learn them all the same??? You learn them even better because the tussle for leadership is even greater in a B-school! Either you take the lead, take charge, rough it out and emerge the winner or sulk in the background and perhaps write one of those "B-schools dont teach..." articles at a later stage in your life!

And whoever said changing your job and domain in the first 18-24 months makes you confused!? A lot of them are successful and are leading their companies to success right? So whats more important? Staying in a job/domain for 35 years and retiring with good pension or doing a bit better?

Boy idfro...

I do second the view about wht has been told.
I seriously think these Million dollar craving MBAs do nothing buta liability..Tell me how many first generation CEOs are MBA.

Boy its simple MBA is a ticket to high money w/o the requisite work exp or vision or hard work..
A bunch of ambitious folk who cant create anything..even a good life for themselves...most of the time than some salary..

I am not talking of those guys who study MBA for the love for the knowledge part of it..I know MBA is a very good course that organize us..
I am talking for those who want to become a CEO with a Degree. Being a CEO is not what a MBA can give..rather I would suggest its recognizing the philosophy at the right time..developing the leadership skill..and being a great individual..makes u a CEO..Not any IIM/Havard Degree

So which B-schools claims they make CEOs? You dont need a B-school education to be a CEO! Heck, you dont even need ANY formal education to be a CEO. Bill Gates was a college drop out and so was Steve Jobs and I dont even know if Dhirubhai had any education at all! Yet they are what they are today. Legends in their own right! So should we say education is a waste and they dont teach you to be a CEO to be in Kindergarden and all that!?? C'mon yaar! As someone has said in another post, it is just a great topic for some idle gossip and adds zilch value to anyone reading it. Like a Page 3 article.

B-school makes managers, not CEOs
