Indian software giants like Infy and TCS pay techies close to minimum wages on deputation abroad and acquire tenders by underestimating time and effort required. As a result poor techies are required to work extra hours and weekends to meet these project deadlines

agree with u.. but the 'poor techies' can leave their job if they feel it's paining them too much! Besides it's the same poor techies who get promoted early (compared to othwer professions) and continue with the process of underestimation! It's a free world, anyways!

Seems like you have worked in the industry long enough! No company will overestimate the effort involved for its a competitive world!
In m opinion its a level playing field and Infosys have done very well and would like to congratulate them.
P.S. Im not an Infosys employee trying to patronise the organisation.

Yea , I've had about 8 years in this industry and worked in several projects. The modus operandi is the same , quote lesser than other companies overseas (which pay their employees market wages),underestimate the project timelines and make the employees work weekends. Some companies refused to pay overtime (which is the norm overseas) while others paid only 1/3rd.I finally decided I had enough and moved overseas permanently.Even when some Indian companies approached me for contracting work , they offered me offshore rates ,considering I was an Indian.
