Fifty-fifty
by Shankar Panday on Aug 25, 2007 09:18 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Dr Guha understood India 50-50. Hindi films are Urdu. Dr Guha fails to recognized Bollywood is used extremely Islamicised, and being a Bengali its a shame he resents Sanskritized Hindi which is more akin to his Bengali. Again, Guha talks about Hindu right wingers and fails to even touch on the subject of rise of madressas all around India, and Talibanisation of the neighborhood which is bound to affect India. Guha fails to dwell on the effects of partition and millions of Bengalis & Punjabis on the streets, and mass scale ethnic cleansing of Hindus from E and W Pakistan. The book is bound to be a 50-50 perception of India.

How do you expect a historian to raise controversial issues????
I do believe that right after independence there was use of urdu in good measure in many films.
Urdu has a good deal of hindi woven into it and has eveolved as khari boli.Hence ,in the Indian composite culture ,Urdu is a compliment to Hindi & not an antgonist.
Of late, the link of underworld in bollywood is a matter of great concern for any Indian . There is general degradation in our culture ,which shows fissure and may lead to a situation where it would be difficult to manage the country.
Dr Guha has expressed these concerns, Even Mian Mussaraf is concerned about radicalisation & Tailbanisation in Pakistan. He has the guts to take action.
But if there is similar action in India ,
.. First congress or left would not allow that in the name of secularism
... There would be hue & cry in the world against the action.
Secularism in India is flawed,
For ,its real success ,we have to support honest and clean politicians.
Congress has given birth to corruption starting from Nehru.Hence , should take balme for the failures mentioned by the historian.
I also am suprised that ,he failed to mention about the left goons in WB ,who converted once prosperous WB to a backward state.
Dr Guha what have got to say about leftists????

Shankar,
Guha is a title used in Karnataka also, it denotes a person who comes from the caste of the persons who ferried Shri Ram,Laxman and Sitaji accross the river.

I know you are a racist, but just wanted to point out to you, that Ramchandra Guha is Kannadiga, not because he stays in Bangalore, but because his family is from there and he was born there.

Its a shame you are spreading ethnic hatred. Why dont to go back to Haridwar and do mundans of the unlettered piligrims who come ther and earn your money, you are an absolute misfit in this forum of the lettered!
