In India also there are private colleges where admission is strictly on basis of Merit. BITS Pillani is top most Private Engineering college where only criteria for admission is merit.Without any grant from Govt, BITS Pillani is a institute not less than any good IIT. The fee structure is also very comparable with government funded IITs.So,All fingers are not same. If there is a will there is a way. If there is apolitical committment for good eduction there are many Philanthropist /institutions who are ready to develop many IITs and IIMs. They have the vision and capabilites. MmM Puri

My friend did his B.Tech. from BITS Pilani by taking 'SIFARISH' from some Baba in Delhi who knew some SDM in Pilani. He even got late for admission, got admitted after 2 months even when admissi0ons are closed.

IF U DO NOT LIKE MERIT. GOD SAKE DON'T SPREAD RUMOURS. EVEN SAFARISH OF CHANCELLOR AND VICE CHANCELLOR CAN NOT PROVIDE A SEAT IN BITS PILANI. THERE ARE 25 STATE TOPPERS WHO JOINED BITS PILANI IN 2007.EVEN IIT IS NOT ABLE TO COME UP WITH ONLINE ADMISSION TEST. BITS ADOPTED THE CGPA SCORE AND SEMESTER SYSTEM FIRST IN THE COUNTRY MUCH BEFORE IIT WAY BACK ABOUT 30 YEARS . BITS PILANI IS ALREADY HAVING VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY AND NOW IIT IS PLANNING FOR IT.THERE IS A NEED FOR PERSONALITIES LIKE GD BIRLA AND KK BIRLA TO ESTABLISH SUCH MORE INSTITUTIONS. DR M M PURI
