Is this article really justified??? I mean, I agree with some of the comments that, its cheaper that USA/UK, but saying that the degree is not recognised would be a wrong. Or to say Aust. is big in tourism and nothing else. It%u2019s a small economy, but its growing very fast, and demand for professionals are increasing too. Speak to people in any industry, and they will tell you that they lack skilled people and particularly people who can take senior management roles. So don%u2019t think there is lack of opportunities. I have been here little more than 4 years, I did my BE civil from MIT Manipal, and then did ME const mgmt from uni of Swinburne, took me couple of months to find a job and I%u2019m doing just fine now. Its not just my story, lot of my mates who have studied in different field have managed to find jobs and settle here. Only thing one can probably say is, students gotta look out for courses they take. It really depends upon what one wants? Do you want to study and settle here, or go back, or maybe move to another country. Because some courses have more benefits (MODL) compared to others, when it comes to applying for permanent residence. I know Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, accountancy are all in MOD list. There would be few other courses, it%u2019s up to the students to find out and apply. They also should see how the job market is? Are there enough jobs in their field of interest? I suggest student not to believe totally what a consultant says/advices, do your independent research and then pick up the right course.

Dont go to Australia. They need Indians to mop the floor or brush carpet dust! Ihave gone there and lost all my career make over years and now with a Master degree 2 divorces [cheated b'se I had a green card by my own community: Kamma / Andhra Pradesh with politicians backing] working as customer service executive in a discriminatory environment and amidst jealousy people who pin point and bad mouth , harassing me and torturing so that I run back there or remain unemployed here!!. So after coming back, ur home country pushes u back there by not providing oppurtunities here. This is confirmed! B'se they are interested in doing business with "influential people" and "black money walas". there are "MARRIAGE RACKETS" :Indian women are being used to circulate green cards. Dont go there, Its a good country but not for Indians. Indians are more used to grabbing things, If you can see Andhra Pradesh had all the decency in the world! to cheat me for my permanent residency, when I come back....No career at all and bent upon pushing me out again so that they can marry me to a low profile wala or to a mafia backed candidate or politicians pet [to hide black money]. Not that there are no oppurtunities, they harass/torture and force "economic migration". NET RESULT is LOSING , not gaining a horrible career and no personal life at all, even if u come back or remain there!

I fully agree with you. Karan's article is totally one sided and Australia actually has lowest unemployment of all major destinations. Lower than US and UK. The currency has been strong since 2001 and economy is booming. it is a service economy and that is the reason for all this. I am a permanent resident and it has been easier getting permanent residency in Australia (within 6 months of the course). In US it takes over 8 years to get Green card and without Green card, the benefits are very few.

employment is better than india...and competing with major destinations...like UK USA...australia is emerging as new job destinatiion...with fresh oppurtunities...dis is wat happened in USA nad UK may be 10 years back...wen dey use to give jobs to the freshers...which dey no longer ghive...but in australia with PR...u can think of gettin a gud job as a fresher...may be australia will become next USA or UK in next 7-8 years or do...
