Preferred
by Vaibhav Arren on Jul 18, 2006 10:49 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

I have been working for a year...Work-ex is definitely preferred. A guy with good 2 year work-ex and an MBA frm a B grade B School is better than a guy without any work ex from an A Grade school. It is preferred frm the view point of B Schools and companies who will give u placement later. More importantly in case u have work-ex then u will be able to learn more and better, an aspect people ignore.

Hi All,
I think work ex is more very much important.
Its similar to situation whn a guy is switching from one domain to another and he has prior experience in that domain may be during his college time so if he has prior experience he can cope up very easily.
We can read a lot of books but we cannot learn practical experince.
i m a software engg in samsung.
Still I m planning to go for MBA after a exp so that wht I will read there there sud be a clear image in my mind.
Otherwise I can read but I can never see practical experience.

Fact of the matter is when it comes to placement there is no much pay differential between people with about 2-3 years expereince to a fresher.. Instead of wasting 2 years in a low paying entry level job its better to do an MBA as soon as you graduet from college
Another important thing is once u start working after ur MBA..usually the number of expereince after MBA is counted.. Pre-MBa work doesnt have much value in most cases..

Courses like MBA are always preferred after some years of work experience. You can always compare learning in your course with actual happening. Without work experience it will be difficult to graps. You even come to know the importance of topics covered in MBA>

  Work ex ... preferred.

I would go by Asst. Professor NAGARAJ SHENOY. What we learn in class rooms is entirely different than what actually happens in real work place. My preference would be work and then study. This also makes you relise your dreams and how to achieve those and how much does it cost to "be there".
