There is strong lobby in BCCI for sure but after 2000 ,when Sourav had become Captain ..players like Shiv Sunder Das, D Mohanty ,Dhoni all from small towns made it to Indian team as he was able to break the hegemony of Mumbai lobby..as he always believed in all India team based on merit & not any lobby For,this reason Sourav is out of favour from Mumbai lobby & was stabbed in the back by BCCI with help of Greg Chapple& More Duo.. This time BCCI has used Dhoni to stab Sourav who was supporter of Dhoni for inclusion in the team in the first place.. So U can not rule out small town boys after 2000,before that it was not possible

Can you name some players who could have played for India before 2000 and not for one off performances. This is not a question off saurav did it or mumbai lobby did it,can you name some players who are in the Indian team because of the lobby and not for their performance. As you say there is politics in all the field of works and cricket is no different and you may have such instances also. I am a great fan of Saurav, but he was stabbed only by greg and not the mumbai lobby, the problem in Indian cricket is the Board dont respect the players for whom they are meant for, as almost 99.99 % of them are politicians running the show and want to prove their one upmanship on others.

Excuse me mumbai lobby? Do you realise that the only player from mumbai to constantly play for india since 1990 has been sachin? Do you even know the kind of performances mumbai players had to put up to finally get selected? If you love dada fine but dont forget how kambli was pushed out of the team to accomodate ganguly on two occassions.

Mr. Narain, you must be commended for inventing these weird theories about Mumbai Vs non-Mumbai.You are doing great.Since how long have you been following cricket? Dont talk crap here without any basis. In earlier days there were more players from Mumbai than other states but in the last 30 years there have been many occasions where there were more players from other states than Mumbai. During late 70s and early 80s and also in 90s there were 7 players from Karnataka, in 80s and 90s there were 5 players from Delhi, in 1979 there were 4 players from TN. Players from smaller towns started playing much before 2000. If players are coming up from smaller towns it is not due to one person but because cricket has spread there due to exposure and the infrastructure is improving.

No body is saying that therewere not great players from Mumbai, but in 50,s & 60's there were 9 out of 11 were from Mumbai, half of them were derving ,many of them not desrving, Of course later in 70,s Karnataka & Delhi also got selcted. Still there was a cartel in BCCI ,where guys from small towns were not selcted..Koi Shak Only after 2000,there was areal change to the disliking of cartel & sycophants in BCCI
