IS DHONI A GREAT CAPTAIN ?.....
by alok gautam on Sep 27, 2007 04:03 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Dhoni has done a great job by motivating young team.No doubts his motivation helps india to capture world cup but there is still some question unanswered like is Dhoni capable of leading team from the front? ...In the last few month he is strugling in his bating. He is not natural stroke player but still at the starting of his carrier he able to make good runs and also helped india to win matches but now he is strugling with his stroke.so it is interesting to see whether he is able to perform with his bat or not,if yes then only he leads india from front.

very true...Dhoni was defnetely a great CAPTIAN to lead the team in frount with COOL. but he already lost his form. time for dhoni to prove himself, and if not, to think how long would he be captain!!!

Sanju, I think a captain shud be like a manager which means one who does nothing himself but manages to get every thing done by others; in that sense, even if the captain does not score, the overall performance of the team shud be managed in such a way so that there will not be any shortcomings in every field whether batting, bowling, fielding, or stumping etc.etc.

Unni, a manager first needs to manage himself before trying to manage others. In the sense that he should lead from the front by playing to his potential. If he doesn't then nobody would want to be under a captain who just talks and does nothing. That is the reason you have had most captains saying that captaincy affects their batting or bowling performances. If it was as easy as what u say, then we would have had everybody being captain fit.

dhoni's early innings has built lot of expectations from him.it's also true that he struggled with his bat in latest innings but no reason to worry on flat pitches he will regain his rythem.

He was playing 20/20 matches not tests or odis where you hv time to score 100s. Even then, he was part 3 imp. partnerships in 3 matches.

He gave support to Utappa v Pak in the first match, He gave support to Rohit v SA(85 runs partnership). He gave support to Yuvi V Aus(scored 36 off 18 balls).
He failed in finals. But that was cracking over from Gul.

He saved the first test by his innings of 76, although rain played its part too. In the 3rd test, he scored some 80 in next to no time to set a challenging first innings plus in the 2nd innings he scored some 20-30 runs at run a ball after drawid's 12 of 100 balls.
