DOWN WITH BCCI, DOWN WITH KIRSTEN
by anees ahmed on Dec 03, 2007 11:29 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

BCCI should not appoint Gary Kirsten as India coach as he just does not deserve that role. I don't know how a coaches selection panel featuring Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri picked Kirsten for the job.THE RACIST KIRSTEN SHOULD BE KEPT OUT. Gavaskar after his fine exploits with the willow is now a well-rounded POLITICIAN aiming to achieve only his selfish ends and to destroy Indian cricket. LALCHAND RAJPUT, VENKATESH PRASAD AND ROBIN SINGH SHOULD CONTINUE IN THEIR ROLES. DOWN WITH BCCI, DOWN DOWN PAWAR.

By having fancy names like maximus Decimus one does not become very erudite and omniscient my dear friend! Please read the cringing reports of Gary Kirsten during his last tour of India! He had problem with food, with hotel rooms, with indian people and the stadium. Please do read a subject well enough before jumping into the fray! These days DNA is distributing their paper free of cost, may be you would do well to ask for a sample copy and read it through the cuppa in the morning and enrich the grey matter in the cranium! O tempora o Moraes!

Ah, ad hominem rant, eh? No matter, I'll stay clear of that. I read what he said, as a matter of fact, that you very much. How does that make it *racist*? He mentioned about cars being dilapidated (wasn't it true?). He had problems with hotel rooms, food, no red meat, lack of socialization (I guess he means pubs), and things of that nature. Point of view. So? How is taht RACIST? I dont recall him saying Indians are so and so... he said he didnt like the conditions in India in 1996. Sure, you could call him the typical firang tourist spoilt by the luxuries that life in the first world affords him, but that's hardly racist. So many desis go abroad and say that they dont like this and that there. Are you trying to say they are racist? Not liking India is not equal to not liking Indians. I dont like Delhi, but I have nothing against people from there. Comprendi? Kirsten didnt like India in 1996, but it's a leap in reasoning to infer that he doesn't like the inhabitants of that land.

Oh, and PS: Since then, conditions in SA have deteriorated. SA has a huge law and order problem and what once was the bread basket of africa (also Zim) is now no longer the same. Perhaps Kirsten may feel more at home in India in 2007 :) Probably why he's now interested...

Precisely that was the point that was being driven , my dear friend! The man who is a poor traveller, how is he going to cope up with the rigours of a mini euro, in the form of indian team! The issue i had tried to push forward was why get a guy who isnt happy with the conditions out here! What sense would it make to have a reluctant bride, who wouldnt consummate?

Any way still a lot of twists and turns could happen, like it was with the earlier candidate, Mr. graham ford / mr. john emburey!

p.s. Are u a fan of asterix?

Natraj: No, that was not the point, was it? The point being made was Kirsten was racist - my argument was that the statements that were made suggest he is a bad traveller, but not necessarily a racist. That said, India in 2007 is different from what it was in 1996 - also peoples perspectives change (money may play a significant role in that too). BCCI just needs to make him an offer he can't refuse.

Maximus Decimus Meridius comes from the movie gladiator... but i am an asterix fan too
