Gavaskar's remarks about Chappel
by Shridhar Iyer on Apr 22, 2007 07:33 PM

The whole thing seems un-warranted. Chappel is a great crcicketer. He belongs to a family of great cricketers. He doesn't need any certificate from anyone to prove his cricketing brain/skills. He has tried his best. He questioned about the attitude of some of the senior and important players, which is nothing wrong, and a Coach has a right to question like this. Our main/senior players didn't perform and therefore we had to come out from the first round itself. Westeners have the habit of calling a spade a spade, and mean business in all seriousness, which may not be digestable to Indian players. What positive service Mr.Gavaskar has done sofar to the Indian cricket? I respect Sunny for his cricketing ability, but this outburst against Chappel doesn't look good for a person of Sunny's stature.

With best wishes,
Srinivasan.
