Hate: I do hate your name. An unfortunate feature of the american demo is that it allows lobbies to function, especially in Washington. Unlike in India, senators and congressmen in US cannot become 'ministers' in govt and make money for themselves, kids and grandkids. President and governors appoint job-savvy secretaries. But politicians get money from vested interests, both national and extra-national and try to put in legilation to tie up the president's decisions in favour of the lobbies financing them, if they can. Pak-lobby financed by saudis, is a very strong one. Most of the hyde act and 123 elements are pak-lobby creations to make things difficult for india to accept the deal. If bush had offered a similar deal to mush also, things would have been different. But pak record on prolif has been too bad. Well, all that india can do is to accept the deal and hope the lobbies are not able damage the proceedings later on. Once most senators see the corporate advantages in the deal also, the corporate lobbies will silence them, hopefully. Anyway, if the deal becomes painful, india can always opt out, as a sovereign state, go for self efforts after that. BARC boys are quite competant in that also.
