RE:At last...Government stated thinking
by pjothilingam on Jul 19, 2008 02:48 PM

This is certainly a tactic to wean away some fence sitters to vote for the govt, in the trust vote. The question is why the UPA did not take steps to counter the Hyde Act for so long, and what caused the belated conciliatory statement? The manner of handling the process of the nuke deal by the govt in the last three years, has caused serious doubts in the minds of all right thinking people. This and the timing of the "thinking" about countering the Hyde Act,may actually prove to be counterproductive for the UPA in the run up to the trust vote. The die is cast, let us await the outcome. After winning the trust vote, let the govt come out with such measures to mollify
the critics of the nuke deal.
