IS INDIA A NATION STATE ?
by SUDEEP GOSWAMI on Feb 16, 2008 11:23 AM

For a moment, set aside MNS and the son of the soil aasertiveness.

Following issues continue to remain unresolved till date :

(1) Is India a nation state ? OR a motley collection of geographical areas balkanization of which is a matter of time ?

(2) Was there any evidence of territorial consciousness amongst Indians prior to Mughals & British ?

(3) Before "Vande Mataram", was there any national song to reflect territorial consciousness ?

(4) If India was a secular state, how come muslims wanted a separate homeland and got Pakistan (disconnect with cultural consciousness) ?

(5) Post partition, how come muslim appeasement policy is part of political doctrine of India ?

(6) How come India is a predatory state dividing its citizens into caste, religion, region, language etc. contrary to constitutional provisions ?
