Compared to Pol Pot, Jyoti Basu was Gandhian. He used means such as gherao, strike, michhil, gono-andolan, etc. He did not resort to murder and mayhem, although there were a few cases of violence But he used his methods ruthlessly and achieved his objective of deindustrialising West Bengal. So in my thinking, his objectives were the same as those of Pol Pot i.e., exploitation of workers can be stopped if there is no industry. Jyoti Basu was successful!
