RE:Nuclear issue for India
by Subhasish Ghosh on Sep 18, 2007 10:14 PM

What is your understanding of the problems from Hyde Act (not Hide) and what are you concerns about the nuclear deal?
The Hyde Act is an US act and applies to US actions. The worst that can mean for us is stopping of nuclear fuel and economic sanctions. And that also acc to the agreement ONLY AFTER the US President's authorization and evaluation. The only reason that will happen is if India carries out a nuclear test.
So the criticial question is :
Does it impose India a leal binding not to test (like a traty)? Answer is NO.
What is the possibility of such a test ? Acc to most nuclear scientists- VERY remote
And what if India HAD TO do such a test? National security takes priority and ofcourse, we will ahve to be ready to part some of our power production capabilities with emergency management (there is provision for emergency reserves).

So what is your concern?
