People with common sense should remember that Rama exists as a hero who once lived somewhere in asia and ruled as a king. He had set good examples with respect to abandoning power for duty. This story is the ssence of Rmayana and the stroy is the essence of Hundu religion.. Now Rama was a human being and did lots of mistakes and had to take difficult decions in ceratin situations which can always be questioned (Bali for example)..That is a diff issue..
Also remember, Hindu religion has much bigger that Ram. or Ramayana..Essence of Hindu religion existed even before Ram was born..Many of the great Hindu scholars whose thesis on life and its purpose lived much before Rama was born..nd to be honest Rama was more a warrior and did not have his own decisions .He had to always depend on Gurus for desiphering Good or Bad..And Even the gurus dpepended on the works of earlier Gurus on the subjecy..
So if one say that Ram alone is Hinduism and that myths stop to relevant when they are treated as myths are just bamkrupts in their mind.The myths are the most powerful manifestations of the thoughts the people who created them..And the myths contain the essence of the culture which created them.
