I don't think if US were to reduce (or even stop) the Chinese imports, it will be China who suffers more, rather it will be US. Much of the big corporations in US are heavily dependent on China's manufacturing. China in fact is one of few countries (if not the only one) which exports more to the US than it imports from US. This trade surplus is the reason US is always hesitant to take a hard stance against China. That said, I agree that China should stop treating the Dalai Lama as a separatist.
