If you read Ramayana or Ramcharitmanas or even Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, you will see that the book does not refer to Ram as God ... He is a prince, son of king of Ayodhya, who lives by his values. He obeyed his father to go to banwas and then lead an invasion on Lanka.
