Rains ravage Maharashtra
by Naresh Dhawan on Jul 01, 2007 11:13 AM

Lot has been said about the flooding in Mumbai during rains and Govt officials are being blamed for the same, but there are many positive aspacts too in this. I am staying in Mumbai for so many years now, and presently I am at Muscat (OMAN) for few months. During recent cyclone (GONU) here, although there was very less rain (normally in Mumbai we call that as drizzle), whole of the city was in Chaos for 4 days. Most of the so called high tech highways (monitored by radars and what nots)were washed away, Ground and 1st floors of the buildings in posh localities were submerged into water, thousands of cars were washed away, and some of the owners are even searching for their vehiles till now (after about a month now). I wonder if here it rains as in Mumbai for just 3-4 hours, the name of this city would vanish from the world map.
