Justice Denied is not Justice Prevailed
by Sajal Kabiraj on Jul 31, 2007 02:22 PM

Sending Sanjay Dutt or for that matter any person to jail does not necessarily offer the cure for betterment of an individual. A holistic view should be taken and if the person found guilty of the crime has realised his mistake and is committed to become a better individual and serve the soceity, then the soceity and judiciary should be willing to give them a chance rather than again victimise and stigmatize them. Moreover, the condition of Indian jails and prisons are so pathetic that it would even turn a sane person into an insane person. Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan have also done many good things and lended their services to many noble causes for the Indian soceity but it is never highlighted by the media. The person's family responsibilities and number of dependants should also be taken into consideration while announcing a sentence to someone. Judges these days pass the sentence based on mere facts , figures and evidences without considering the emotive quotient and humanitarian aspects of life.

Sincere Regards,
