What you say above seems to be the actual flow looking at the events which have taken place in history. There is no doubt that what has happenned in the last 50 years will throw light on the turn of events. What India always wanted was a progressive goverment... What it received was not the same. If India has developed then thanks to the determination of few leaders and honest citizens who have done their part of the job well. It hardly matters which areas they have been working on. VHP and parties like it will always emanate when there is an opportunity. Lets take the congress party... who have ruled the country for most of the time. If we go back to pre-independence era, I do not think that it would have been the same status wherein the difference between the communities was so evident. What Congress achieved during this time or intended to do is keep the vote banks uneducated....be it Muslims, or UP or Bihar for that matter. During time though people like Lalu and Mulayam have hijacked their agenda. VHP is only a raw form of protest to highlight this sectarian politics played by these shrewd leaders. Any other leader protesting this in a secular way will be branded as playing right wing politics. Muslims will remain uneducated till the time their votes are polarised by the moolahs and will give rise to low literacy rates etc. I have not seen any Muslim who is educated and remains unemployed. Govt jobs do not form any basis of identifying whether Muslims are working there or not. Remember it is the same Congress who had a say in the govt. over these years.
The Congress and Communists have lost track and failed to identify the real issues. They are still not done and completed on their agendas. As I said earlier only gritty people like VHP will come out openly against their agendas. Any clear headed and honest opinion given by anybody will be termed as somebody non secular. What is required from the so called secular parties is leave religion to the people who practice it and concentrate only on development of the society as a whole.
