A request to every non hindi speaking Tamil
by True Indian on Dec 18, 2007 08:38 PM

One of my american collegue asked me, do you know hindi? I said yes. He asked me why doesnt all of you indians know hindi, which she was told is a national language of India. She said that she was surprised that one of her collegue(a tamil) told her that ENGLISH is the national language in India. I love my country and I dont want people to laugh on what my fellow tamilian said. I told her that in India, we believe in tolerance. We do not force people to speak one language, or to follow one religion. Thats the reason why India is binded together depite several cultures and religions.
I dont mind you tamilians dont speak or learn hindi, but atleast dont claim that Hindi is NOT the national language and its English. atleast 70% people of India speak that language. Tamil is spoken by probably 10%. Even English speaking people are less. Wherever I went, Punjab, Gujrat, UP, Bihar, Maharashtra, KERALA, Andhra, WB, Rajasthan and the list goes on, I get Hindi speaking people, except one state TN.
