I am not sure whether you are conversant with energy technologists. But if you go through the journals and literatures related to this you will find even in the western countries the policy makers are opting for alterantives like solar, wind, bio-fuel, geo-thermal etc. and the cheaper version of these are being explored. Nuclear Energy is not a cost-effective option considering the capital cost, safety cost, waste disposal cost and fuel recycling cost. Even then it might be one of the best alternatives considering the present demand of power. But again the deal with a country like US, who dropped atom bombs twice and who do not hesitate to topple sovereign governments to get hold of their oil storage, should be dealt with cautiously.
