If the deal is at India's initiative then it is utterly stupid of India to have gone for it as there is nothing of gain for India but a total loss on all counts.
Atomic reactor generated steam is not going to be cost affordable if it is going to be from US.In India nobody would like to live near such a plant.We have high population density and hence we cannot locate these far enough from population centres.
It is most certainly not worth trading our defence capablity for a utterly rubbish expensive unaffordable cost electric power generation reactors from US and then become dependent for future uranium fuel supplies on powers who are already planning to strangle India.
This goes entirely in favour of Pakisan and China who would be going GA GA if India gets roped into this deal as it will weaken India's defence capablity which is what they wish for.
