Watching the NDTV coverage yesterday, I was amazed that a convicted criminal (sidhu), a convicted fraud (match-fix Jadeja), an anchor who has no notion of balancing a debate was passing judgement on Rahu Dravid and campaigning for Ganguly.
Sidhu and the weird anchor called Dravid a 'quitter'. The most important measurement for a cricketer - the one universally accepted - is his performance away from home. Dravid has the best (bar none) performance on all types of wickets against all types of bowling. He already averages around 60 more than any regular No. 3 batsman in the game's history, barring Don Bradman. For the last decade, he has been India's most consistent bat and every opponent targets Dravid's wickets than any other Indian b atsman.
It is a joke and it is also a reflection of the crude and biased society that we live in wherein a debate does not have two sides and convicted felons sit in judgement of the toughest cricketer that India has ever produced.
One final joke: Saw Surinder Khanna (remember him - played a bit part in a sharjah ODI) grit his teeth, tighten his face and indulge in verbal diarrhea.
When a news channel shows obvious bias, the public will wise up and I really hope that NDTV gets run to the ground by the likes of CNN-IBN.
