About losing super eight WC
by Galaxy Krystal on Mar 29, 2007 09:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

So sad. They became villains with two defeats. I strongly feel all this happened becoz of chappel.. Likes of Gangs, Shewag, Sachin, Bajji and othere showed at the right time what they can do to chappel's coaching career. I though they will show this in semifinals.. but our bad luck they have decided to show their anger in initial stages itself.

Last world cup Sachin and Shewag opened and Gangs came in one down.. so why did they have to do it differently now.. its all becoz of mindless games played by chappel and a ultra soft captian rahul.

Sack Chappel and Rahul and see the diff.. give back opening slot for sachin and shewag..

The constant experimentation, the lack of cohesiveness, the mind blowing endorsements and the media hype were the true causes of our exit from this world cup. Collectively the team failed in all the departments of the game. It appears the opponents were more focused than us. There was a suggestion that fresh legs should step into the scenario. Nothing will change if the ground rules are going to be the same - politician dominated board, partisan selection, endorsements, media hype etc. let us hope good sense prevails.

Changing Captain won't change the attitude of the team.
by Vinod DSouza on Mar 29, 2007 08:06 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dravid is still the best captain. India has many players who have so much of attitude.Tendulkar may be out of form but his commitment can't be questioned. Only Tendulkar and Dravid should be retained among senior players.Youvraj Singh, Dhoni and Sehwag should be asked to behave well.If they show too much attiude, they should be dropped. Yuvraj Singh's fielding was very poor in this World Cup.

Long Live India.

why is someone asking this stupid idiot if he would like to coach the national team? Does he know just because someone has played the game doesn't automatically make him a good coach? Coach should someone who know how to get the best out of the available players. i personally think none of the indian past players have any qualification to be a coach. But that's my opinion. None of the past indian player understands the importance of fitness and training to be a good athlete (except maybe azharuddin, who kept himself fit through out his career). This guys are all lazy and greedy who doesn't want a foreign coach because that takes their chances to ever become one.
I think BCCI should go after Dave Whatmore or maybe even Steven Waugh. Waugh would definitely make a great coach. Will teach the indian team how to play the game hard and teach them the missing positive attitude.

Kumble and Harbhajan are a potent combination.
by Hinoo Bakra on Mar 29, 2007 07:24 AM  Permalink

Both Kumble and Harbhajan attack the batsman relentlessly and it is this positive attitude that makes them one of the most innovative bowling pairs in recent times.
When someone remarked that Kumble was an unorthodox spinner, Harbhajan looked back and asked in anger, "How does it matter? Look at his wickets."
Pride in each other's performances %u2014 that, then, is the secret of their success together.

Batsmen let Dravid down: G Viswanath%u3001Don't blame Dravid and Chappell: Kiran More
by Rahul Saurav on Mar 29, 2007 07:05 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I wonder, what the comment comes from Kiran More and G. Viswanath?

To whom will Indians blame for the loss? Is it Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Bal Thak., A. Vajpayee, L. Advani, ..?
If the all players perform well then the credit should not go to the captain only. The captain post is not like the post of President in India. Captain should think how the team will perform well and how he can lead the team from all angels. Nayan Mongia says that if all players will perform well then anyone can be the captain. If that would be, one dog/monkey can be the captain. They are now trained to play domestic cricket:)))
May be Veng.'s/Power's Dog is going to be the next captain of Indian team:))))

Chappel had no clue
by Hinoo Bakra on Mar 29, 2007 06:59 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Alil Kumble : He is currently the highest wicket-taker for India in both One Day International and Test matches, having taken over 500 Test wickets and 300 ODI wickets. He is one of only two bowlers ever to have taken all 10 wickets in a test innings. Among leg spinners from all countries, only Shane Warne has taken more Test wickets. Kumble is currently ranked the 4th best bowler in Tests by the International Cricket Council.

Mongia could have fixed India's performance ....
by Hinoo Bakra on Mar 29, 2007 06:13 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Let's make Mongia coach !
November 2000 report :
"Nayan Mongia has been booked for his suspicious conduct during a one-day cricketing encounter with the West Indies. Although India was in with a positive chance to force a win when he went into bat, Mongia, in league with Prabhakar, seemed more intereste d in parading his defensive batting abilities. Mongia has pleaded that he was only following instructions from his team management, though his subsequent omission from the side proves that he was perhaps acting with hidden motives of his own."

HAHAHA..I remember that game, I saw it live, its like a culture that is being followed from the time of sunny gavaskar, record books, 100s, 50s mean so much..Ask Ravi Shastri ( I have been watching cricket for ages now), shastri would slow down drastically before 50 and 100, this suckers dont realize that a 90 of 70 ball is better than 102 of 120 balls! (Sachin 90 odd against pak from last world cup is remembered more than so many of his accumulative 100s in indian pitches)

Can you spot one Indian cricketer (past and present) who can be called Mr. Consistent, Mr.Reliable, etc? None to my knowledge. Like all of you, I too have been following this game for years and have never ever seen a back to back game that can be called a classic or an epic. Most of the time it has been a flash in the pan kind of a situation only - one inning wonder if you may call that. Never ever seen a repeat performance at any time. Hence the sheen was never there in the first place with any of our cricketers to say that it has been lost now. These kind of defeats have become part and parcel of our game from the good old days. Legacy lives on. May be it has become worse now.

Nayan Mongia the COACH? By Prem Karat
by Prem Karat on Mar 29, 2007 05:42 AM  Permalink

What a shame it will be to Indian Cricket. How can he dare to talk like this? Nayan did you hear what Wasim Akram told about u during an interview recently in Star Sports...He said he has never seen a selfish cricker like you..How can you even dare to face the crowd? Don't you feel ashamed
